No one can offend you without your consent, but it seems American's willingness to consent is endangering the first amendment. A recent poll conducted by the Foundation for Individual Rights and Expression and Dartmouth College’s Polarization Research Lab found that over half of Americans believe that the First Amendment's protection of free expression sometimes goes too far. The study also showed a divide on the issue of restricting college protests related to Israel's military operations in Gaza. Overall, 69% of respondents felt that the country is heading in the wrong direction on free speech. The poll was conducted online and surveyed 1,000 individuals with a margin of error of three percentage points.
