Confusion about finances between MARTA and Atlanta is continuing. The AJC reports the agency's general manager was asked to attend a meeting of the city council's finance committee yesterday, but failed to show. This comes after an audit revealed MARTA has overcharged for services by as much as 70-million-dollars. The general manager says he plans to meet with Mayor Andre Dickens rather than the council.
Southwest Airlines is cutting the number of employees it has based out of Atlanta. The number-two carrier at Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport revealed yesterday that a combined 300 flight attendants and pilot positions will be eliminated in the local base. Southwest is also cutting the number of flights it offers out of Atlanta by a third. The company is expected to hold a meeting with investors today.
The Georgia Ports Authority says it could close it's Savannah and Brunswick ports if longshoremen go on strike.
