Gov. Youngkin says Virginia leads the nation in cutting chronic school absenteeism. That's missing 10% or more. It's down from 14.3% to 12.4% in Campbell Co. - Assistant Superintendent Dr. Amy Hale tells ABC-13 it's the messaging.....Preview: Hale says Campbell Co. also offers tutoring and after-school learning to make up time and instruction. The state department of Education says chronic absenteeism is down from 19.3% in 2022-23 to 16.1% last school year.

Gray sand will stay put on the beaches of Virginia Beach but the project to replenish beach erosion is on-pause over that gray sand quality. The problem: unsightly sand dredged up and put near the resort area's bright tan sand near the Boardwalk .

No charges for a resident who shot a suspect in a Tuesday shootout that leaves 3 people dead in Spotsylvania (near Washington.) Police saying Thursday gunfire erupted at a planned gun sale. Gunfire killed 18 yr old Chase Feaster and 18 yr old Alonzo Goffney plus a 20 yr old. Police are charging 18 yr old Ruther Glen and 3 juvenile teens.
