People all over Virginia are welcoming the news that the Catholic Church has a new Pope. The Pope is a Chicago-born American and Virginia Sen. VCU is withholding the degrees of 3 Palestine student protesters. They helped organize a campus gathering last month in support of Palestine that resulted in a student arrest. 1 of the students is Sereen Haddad. She says she’ll walk across the stage at graduation today in protest. VCU will withhold the 3 degrees until resolution of their discipline process.

The Chair of the Virginia Beach Republican Party is out after party in-fighting. Leaders of the Virginia GOP’s 2nd Congressional District Committee ousted Laura Hughes in a secret vote late Wednesday night. The meeting was closed to party members and the public. People voting to remove her say Hughes didn’t do her job.
