A lawyer with the Virginia Poverty Law Center in Richmond suggests older people in the state are going hungry. The reason: federal benefits decreasing after the COVID-19 pandemic. Lawyer Casie Edner is calling for the federal government to raise the minimum SNAP benefit to $50. Right now the SNAP minimum is $23 with a max of $292.
