Helene is gone but not the boil water advisory in the Blackburg area. Virginia Tech helping by giving students free bottled water starting yesterday [Friday]. These coeds telling ABC-13 it's a big relief.....

The Montgomery Co. boil water advisory now runs through next Saturday, October 12th. The advisory follows historic flooding of The New River due to Helene that still makes its water unsafe to drink unless boiled.

A Richmond helicopter company is volunteering to help storm recovery efforts in North Carolina. Helo-Air deployed 2 helicopters to western North Carolina. Pres. Whit Baldwin says everyone with the company stepped up to help with whatever needed doing. Helo-Air delivered about tons of supplies to the Lincolnton and Hickory areas as of Tuesday.

As firearm deer season begins in Central Virginia, Beltone Hearing Instrument Specialist Jared Mazzo reminds hunters to protect their hearing while in the field.

Mazzo tells WAVY he recommends using either electronic earmuffs that filter out gunshots but allow ambient sounds to pass through or earplugs designed especially by your audiologist.

A Thursday night shooting in Henrico Co. is now a homicide. 55 yr old James Brandon JR died later in-hospital. Initial investigation identified 64 yr old Tony Johnson as a suspect and he’s in custody with charges pending. No word on circumstances surrounding the shooting or motive.
