Petersburg is getting a green light to pursue a gambling casino. Gov. Youngkin amended legislation to approve the action. It removes the requirement for a 2nd vote in the legislature in 2025 and was among the 110 bills the governor addressed Friday. He also veted 2 bills that would have kept Virginia from extraditing people who violate abortion laws in other states.

The University of Richmond plans to excavate old graves found on-campus. It’s permit application says it plans to rebury any human remains at a nearby memorial. The university has known its campus is home to a cemetery for enslaved workers who lived on a plantation there about 180 yrs ago.
