Much of the state is on heat-stroke alert this weekend. Temperatures soaring into the 90s raises the risk for heat related medical events that threaten lives. Katie Carter with state Emergency Management tells CBS-6 one sign of heat stroke is you stop sweating.....

Carter says people outside this weekend should avoid strenuous activity, drink plenty of water, and wear light clothing to reflect sunlight rather than absorb it.

Richmond may see a record high temperature today. The hottest temperature ever recorded in Richmond was 101° in 1933. Today's high is forecast to be the upper 90s, with a feels-like temperature expected to reach over 100 degrees. A heat advisory is in effect until 8pm, and forecasters say tonight will be muggy and warm in.

91 yr old country music star Willie Nelson cancels his concert in Virginia Beach this weekend due to an unnamed illness. But he’s rescheduled it for next weekend. Producer Live Nation posting Friday Nelson is resting on doctor’s orders and will rejoin the Outlaw Music Festival tour next week. He’ll be in Virginia Beach on Wednesday.
