The 5th District GOP primary recount moves to August 1st. The court clerk in Goochland Co. (near Richmond) says it's over a judge schedule. The recount follows State Sen. John McGuire winning the primary by only 374 votes over incumbent Cong. Bob Good. McGuire tells ABC-13 Good will have to pay for it, but.....Preview: McGuire is confident he'll stay the winner. And Good -- if he loses again -- will have to pony up nearly $97,000 for the recount.

Sen. Mark Warner is looking at ways to reduce gun violence in Hampton Roads. The Democrat meeting Friday with Hampton elected officials, 1st responders, and activists on the problem Warner calls a cancer. 76 homicides in the region so far in 2024. Solutions discussed include violence interruption groups and a focus on root causes.
