School test scores are up for Bedford Co. students in the Piedmont. 75% of Bedford Co. students passed the reading test in the 2022-23, but that's up to 77% for 2023-24. Math score passage is up from 72% to 77%. Curriculum Director Shawn Trosper tells ABC-13 they worked at it.....Preview: He says passage rates in science are also up -- from 65% in 2022-23 to 70% in 2023-24. He calls recovery a multi-year challenge and says they're aiming for more improvement this academic year.

A former Norfolk bank teller admitting Friday she stole $119,000 from a customer’s account. 30 yr old Imani Adams says she forged withdrawal slips in the elderly woman’s name. prosecutors saying Adams pled guilty to 4 counts of embezzlement and 4 counts of forgery from late 2018 to early 2019 at a Wells Fargo. Sentencing will be in October.

A new report says roadway fatalities are up in Virginia as traffic enforcement declines. The Virginia State Crime Commission finds a nearly 20% increase in traffic wrecks in the past 6 yrs with more drivers speeding and police doing less proactive enforcement. The Commission studied data from 2017 to 2022.
