State School Superintendent Dr. Lisa Coons is out - resigning Friday. Chief Deputy Secretary Emily Gullickson will be Acting Superintendent during the vacancy. Coons resignation comes after the department missed several deadlines for sending reports to the legislature, hasn’t published new history standards, and is hemorrhaging staffers.
