A Hampton state senator is wondering if Virginia can make up the difference if the feds lower food stamp benefits. Sen. Mamie Locke calls it an important safety net. Locke, herself, remembers getting those benefits. The Richmond area, alone, has nearly 38,000 people getting food stamps. Says it’s her job to see they get their benefits.

A Chesterfield Co. Police traffic blitz stops 200 drivers in 1 day. The Thursday traffic blitz follows an online poll asking residents what street to target. Officer Deonte Waller says over 230 voted for Chippenham Parkway.....Preview: Police stopping 236 vehicles, issuing 313 summons, and 38 written warnings. 2 drivers clocked at 104 in a 60mph zone. Officers also looking for impaired driving, seatbelt use, reckless driving, and using a mobile device while driving.
