Scammers are targeting VCU students with fake checks and threats. A dozen students offered money via social media for their photos. VCU Police Sgt. Nick Champigny [sham-PEE-nee] tells CBS-6 the scammers send a fake check and say.....Preview: Banks flag the checks as fraudulent. Then the scammers try to intimidate students to get the money or more money. They threaten the lives of the students and their families and attach gruesome images.
