The National Weather Service says it was an EF-1 tornado that tore through Northumberland Co. Wednesday near Callao [KAY-lo]. It destroyed Heather Wise's home but she and her family survived. Wise tells CBS-6 they hid in the bathroom.....Preview: It tore her house in half and scattered furnishings over the woods in back, mixed with trees snapped like matchsticks. The miracle is the Sheriff says there was only 1 injury -- and so minor the person declined treatment.

Gov. Youngkin signs a bill to crack down on elder abuse and exploitation. It lets some of the state’s most powerful investigative bodies evaluate people who abuse, neglect, or steal funds from vulnerable adults. It’s among 150 bills Youngkin says he signed Thursday. He’s now signed over 500 bills and vetoed 91.

60 workers at a candle factory in Dublin VA are out of a job this weekend - lost their jobs Friday at Gala North America. Pulaski Co. blocked a domestic candlemaker from taking over operations at the plant. The county owns the building. Workers are also angry because the county’s doing feasibility study on making it an events center.
