(voicer) - The Virginia Department of Health issued the order on Friday for a section of Lake Anna in Spotsylvania County due to dangerous levels of harmful algae. The advisory is for the Upper North Anna Branch between the Upper North Anna River and the Route 522 Bridge. Officials say cyanobacteria detected in the water can cause gastrointestinal illnesses and skin rashes. The latest precaution is happening after at least 25 people reported getting sick after visiting the lake over Memorial Day weekend. Experts are expected to conduct additional monitoring next month. I'm Madison Roberts.
