(Richmond, VA) -- A new bill aimed at helping students with cardiac emergencies will take effect soon. Rocio Rivera has details.Preview: House Bill 1695 will require all schools in Virginia to have AED's or automated external defibrillators, and have plans in place for their use should the need arise. Advocates of the bill say this will save lives. The American Heart Association says every minute that goes by during a cardiac emergency reduces the chance of survival by 10%. The bill will also require cardiac emergency response plans for sporting events on campuses. The law is set to take effect on July 1st. I'm RR.
