The Virginia Department of Health has lifted recreational water and fish consumption advisories for multiple areas following a Mecklenburg County industrial fire earlier this month. The orders have been removed for Mountain Creek, Dockery Creek, and the Roanoke River to the North Carolina state line. They were put in place out of an abundance of caution after a South Hill warehouse that stored chemicals caught fire on July 6th. Health officials were worried that runoff from water used to extinguish the flames traveled into the waterways. The site has since been fully contained.
