The Transportation Security Administration now accepts digital Virginia IDs at airport security checkpoints, allowing travelers to use the Virginia Mobile ID app to scan their phone instead of a physical ID. Users must have a valid Virginia driver's license or ID card to download the app. The scanning technology can verify the traveler's ticket, replacing the physical boarding pass at security checkpoints, although a boarding pass must still be presented to an airline gate agent. WFXR reports that the M-ID is accepted at over 230 airports, with more airports being added each week.
