That's the conclusion of a report of aviation assets in the Hampton Roads area released this week. The study says the Newport News-Williamsburg Airport had an operating loss of over four-million dollars as of November due to declining passenger traffic. It recommends changing the focus of the airport to non-traditional areas such as unmanned flight and advanced air mobility. The consultants hired for the study believe the shift could help the airport out of debt and support future growth in aviation technology.
