The Board of Juvenile Justice met yesterday to discuss issues at the Bon Air Correctional Center. RISE for Youth lawyer Valerie Slater submitted four complaints from parents of some residents. She claims some were prevented from calling home, were kept in their cells for 24 hours or more and couldn't take showers. A Department of Juvenile Justice spokeswoman says the DJJ is alarmed by the allegations and would like to fully investigate. Slater, though, asked the board to order an outside investigation.
