The city announced yesterday it's launching a new emergency alert system called Richmond Ready Alerts. It'll replace the current system called CodeRed. The city says the new system is innovative, and it'll provide prompt and dependable notifications during critical incidents and emergencies. It'll be used during severe weather, fires, floods, missing persons, power outages and other crucial situations. You can sign up for the alerts by visiting RVA.gov/RichmondReadyAlerts.
