Some say the proposed venue would fill the void left by the 2019 fire that destroyed the city's primary arts venue, the Rives Theatre. Officials say the project has received widespread support from residents and is seen as a key component of the city's cultural and entertainment offerings. The proposed amphitheater would be located on an 8.8-acre parcel of land owned by the Lester Group, with plans for a feasibility study to be conducted if approved by the city council. The project could potentially be funded by the city and the Harvest Foundation, with discussions and decisions expected during the upcoming council sessions.
