The recent suicide of a 10-year-old Roanoke County girl has sparked a call to action against bullying in the community. Community Church Pastor Dr. Thomas McCraken says he's leading the charge to change school bullying policies and will host a town hall to discuss solutions. Dr. McCraken tells WDBJ its important of peer intervention in stopping bullying incidents, citing research that shows many students skip school to avoid being bullied. He believes that current policies focused on staff and students are ineffective and hopes the town hall will lead to meaningful change in anti-bullying measures.
