Pamela Roy, manager of the Visual Resource Program for the Appalachian Trail Conservancy, has been mapping the scenic views along the Appalachian Trail in Virginia to help protect and enhance these spots. The data collected is used to determine valuable conservation areas and preserve the scenic quality of the trail. The Cardinal News reports the project aims to support the ATC's "Protect Pillar" campaign by identifying areas that need extra attention and funding for conservation efforts. Roy and her team have focused on lesser-known areas of the trail, providing valuable information to inform landowners and conservancy groups about potential changes to the landscape.
