A new poll shows Vice President Harris is leading former President Trump among Virginia voters. The Emerson College/The Hill and WAVY-TV Fox 43 poll was done with 860 likely voters this week. It showed Harris leading Trump by eight points. It also showed Democratic Senator Tim Kaine leading Republican challenger Hung Cao by 10 points. Among issues voters felt were most important were the economy and housing affordability.

The City of Lynchburg is getting a big federal grant to help them hire personnel at a new fire station. The city is getting four-point-four-million dollars from FEMA to staff Station Nine, which will start construction next year. Up to 21 new firefighters will be funded through the grant. A spokesperson says the city has committed to paying the salaries of the 21 firefighters once the grant expires.
