Governor Youngkin has ordered flags on state buildings to be lowered to half-staff to honor former President Jimmy Carter. Yesterday's order will keep flags lowered until January 28th. The former president died Sunday in Georgia. He was 100-years-old.  
 
 
The City of Roanoke plans to build Virginia's first in-river whitewater park. The city has signed a five-point-six-million-dollar contract with Environmental Quality Resources to create the area in the Roanoke River near Wasena Park. The project will be paid for by American Rescue Plan Act funding and some local support. Construction is expected to begin in the spring, with completion by the end of 2026.  
 
 
The legacy of a former VCU student will live on in a new federal law. President Biden on Tuesday signed the Stop Campus Hazing Act.
