Help from Central Virginia is on its way to Florida. Volunteers from the American Red Cross of Virginia will help those caught in the path of Hurricane Helene [[huh-LEEN]]. It's expected to be a major hurricane and cause destruction in Northwest Florida. Mary Davis Barton and other volunteers left yesterday from Henrico for Tallahassee. She tells 12 On Your Side people don't know where to turn after a disaster, and if she can help them, that's what she needs to do.  
 
 
Petersburg wants to ensure those battling substance abuse can get the help they need. The city marked National Substance Abuse Recovery Month yesterday with a program at the library. Virginia First Lady Suzanne Youngkin and Petersburg Mayor Sam Parham were there. Brittany Ahrend was grateful for the high profile support. She says she battled alcohol and prescription drug addiction for over a decade .
