A Richmond-area eleven-year-old will spend time in juvenile detention in Florida in connection to a string of threats directed at Central Florida schools. The boy was sentenced after he pleaded no contest to dozens of swatting threats against at least five campuses on Florida's Atlantic Coast just north of Daytona Beach back in May. He will remain in detention until he is placed in a high-risk program for roughly a year.
A recount is being requested in the race for a seat on the Norfolk City Council. Carlos Clanton claimed victory in the race for the Superward Seven seat after Friday's vote count. Clanton's total is 92 votes ahead of Phillip Hawkins, who requested the recount. To request a recount at the city's expense, the margin has to be less than zero-point-five-percent.
