Lawyer Paul Goldman has filed a lawsuit to stop the city's plan to pay for the Diamond District project. The city announced Wednesday it wants to issue 170-million dollars in bonds for the project, but Goldman says the burden of paying the debt service on the bonds will be solely on the city's taxpayers. He also tells 8News the deal will saddle the city with 280 million dollars in debt. Richmond Chief Administrative Officer Lincoln Saunders says the lawsuit is frivolous and flies in the face of the will of the residents.
