The Governor killed multiple bills including legislation that would have raised the minimum wage to $15 an hour by 2027, guaranteed paid sick leave for all Virginia workers, and created a Prescription Drug Affordability Board. Other vetoed bills included measures related to workplace violence policies, insurance coverage for HIV-positive individuals, restrictions on carrying certain firearms in public areas, and standards of responsible conduct for the firearm industry. WAVY reports that Youngkin cited concerns about the impact on small businesses, unintended consequences, and constitutional issues as reasons for his vetoes.
