The zoo announced the death of the cranes yesterday. Officials say it's the first positive test for bird flu in the history of the zoo. The cranes did not live in an area where they would have come into contact with the public, reducing the risk that illness could spread to humans. State officials are monitoring the health of zookeepers who had contact with the cranes as well as other animals at the zoo.
