(Henrico, VA) -- Hurricane Debby is making our national blood shortage even worse. Richard Stelling has more.Preview: Voicer Script:
American Red Cross Spokesperson Jonathan McNamara says the storm forced organizers to cancel dozens of blood drives across the East Coast. He says extreme heat also led to over a hundred other drives being canceled. McNamara says these came after July saw 19-thousand fewer donations and a 25-percent drop in the nation's blood supply. That shortage led Elton Wright, Jr. to donate blood recently in Henrico County on Emerywood Parkway. He tells 12 On Your Side every ounce of blood counts, it's going to a good cause, and you're changing lives.
