A proposed pedestrian bridge project near Battlefield High School in Haymarket may be in jeopardy due to concerns about the estimated $25 million cost and pedestrian traffic. Supervisor Bob Weir suggested reallocating funds to expand a nearby parking lot as an alternative safety measure. WTOP reports the decision comes after a study found that pedestrian traffic may not warrant a bridge. Some residents support the bridge for safety reasons, while others believe drivers should follow traffic laws. The county board will ultimately decide the fate of the project.
