Fairfax County leaders have joined the National Wildlife Foundation’s Mayors’ Monarch Pledge Program to help the survival of the monarch butterfly. Over 600 local governments have taken the pledge, committing to actions to protect pollinators. The decline in monarch butterfly populations is attributed to habitat loss in the U.S. and Mexico. FFX Now reporta that Fairfax County has already taken steps to support pollinators, and signing the pledge will help remind them to do more.
