It's the Critical Operation for Disappeared Child Alert and Virginia State Police say it's used to aid in the searches of missing or endangered children. It differs from an AMBER Alert because it involves abduction. The CODI Alert, approved by the 2024 Virginia General Assembly, is named for Codi Bigsby, a four-year-old from Hampton, who was reported missing in 2022. His father, Cory Bigsby is in jail for his murder although the young boy has never been found.
