School leaders kicked off the week by breaking ground on the new Portsmouth Advanced Career Education Center along West Road. School Board Chair Dr. Cardell Patillo tells 13 News Now that the 13-million-dollar project has been 14 years in the making. Once up and running, the PACE Center will offer several trade courses for students who want to go directly into the workforce. The facility will operate out of the district's former Diagnostic Adjustice and Corrective Center facility, located right next to the city school board building. The center is expected to open to students next year.
