>>Churchill Downs LLC Asked To Resubmit Plans For Gambling Site
(Henrico County, VA) -- Some Virginia leaders are pushing back against a plan to create a new gambling facility in the Greater Richmond area. Madison Roberts reports.Preview: Voicer Script:
A bipartisan group of Henrico County leaders are joining forces to try to stop a casino-like operation from going up in their area. The lawmakers sent a letter to the Colonial Downs Group and Rosie's Gaming Emporium earlier this week, asking officials to withdraw their latest application. The state legislators say they oppose a project to turn a portion of the Staples Mill Shopping Center in Henrico into a facility with 175 historical horse race machines. They believe it will bring negative changes to the community and go against the public input process. The letter was signed by eight state delegates and senators.
