Richmond Public Schools held a virtual town hall yesterday to discuss changes that are due by 2025. That's when a state law restricting cell phone use in schools goes into effect. School Board member Shonda Harris-Muhammed responded to a concern that parents won't be able to reach their children in an emergency. She says processes and procedures will be in place to make sure parents will be able to have access to students. Harris-Muhammed also says change is difficult and takes time, but the district will continue to work with parents on a positive level.
