The Knights of Columbus can claim victory in a legal showdown with the federal government. The National Park Service had denied the group a permit to hold its annual Memorial Day mass at Poplar Grove National Cemetery in Petersburg. The NPS denied the permit because the ceremony was religious. The Knights of Columbus sued, but yesterday, the National Park Service granted the Knights a permit, and the Knights dropped their lawsuit. No reason for the change was announced.
