>>Residents Protest Proposed Chesapeake Data Center
(Chesapeake, VA) -- Residents of a Chesapeake neighborhood are upset about a potential data center that could be built right in the middle of their neighborhood. Rocio Rivera has details.Preview: Residents of the Great Bridge area in Chesapeake say they don't want a proposed data center to be built as it would ruin their quality of life. Many of them spoke at a commission meeting this week and urged members not to recommend the center. The 350-thousand square foot buillidng would be the first industrial scale data center in Hampton Roads, but it's location and projected noise emission concerns nearby residents. The developer says the building would be constructed like other commercial buildings and noise would be minimal, but residents aren't buying it. They've signed a petition to stop it. City Council will have final say at their June 17th meeting. I'm RR.
