>>Bedford to Offer Incentives for Childcare Businesses
(Bedford, VA) -- Childcare businesses are getting some extra support in Bedford. Rebecca Hughes explains.Preview: Voicer Script:
Bedford town officials voted to offer a $15,000 incentive for childcare businesses to address the shortage of facilities in the area. With over 1 million children in need of childcare in the state, the incentive aims to support working parents. Businesses must be licensed in Virginia and located in Bedford for at least two years to qualify. The initiative comes as one of only six local childcare providers is closing, further exacerbating the need for childcare services in the town. Director of Planning and Community Development Mary Zirkle tells 10On Your Side News she hopes the incentive will help fill the gap and support working families.
