Apex Clean Energy has signed a power purchase agreement with Google for electricity generated by its Rocky Forge wind farm in Virginia. The wind farm, set to come online in 2026, will produce 79 megawatts of power from 25 turbines. This agreement marks the second partnership between Apex and Google, with the first being a wind farm in North Carolina. WTOP news reports that the project is expected to create jobs and contribute millions in tax revenue to the state and local governments. Google aims to power all its data centers in Virginia with clean energy as part of its goal to achieve net-zero emissions by 2030.
