Chelsie Nelson says she paid for a roof repair that was never completed by Nathan Jay Laurain of Homefront Renovations, leaving her in a difficult situation four years later. WDBJ reports Laurain took her insurance check and disappeared. Court documents show Laurain served time in prison for seven counts of construction fraud after duping other people. Nelson says insurance was canceled, and she now struggles to find new coverage due to the unrepaired roof. The Better Business Bureau advises doing research and checking references to avoid similar scams.
