Lawmakers must act on pending measures in each chamber by the end of the day. Any bills not approved and sent to the other chamber will be dead for the year. That rule does not apply to budget bills, which should be ready later this week. This year's session is set to adjourn on February 22nd. Also, Lieutenant Governor Winsome Earle-Sears left the Senate chamber yesterday because of an unexpected foodborne illness. A spokesperson said Earle-Sears left early to seek medical advice. She is the tiebreaking vote in the closely divided state Senate.
