The Virginia Department of Education is getting ready to hold a series of community conversations across the state.
Madison Roberts explains why.Preview: The public meetings will allow parents and community members to discuss how state education leaders can implement cell phone-free education in the Commonwealth. It's all part of an executive order issued by Governor Glenn Youngkin last week in an effort to promote the health and safety of public school students. During his announcement, the governor also mentioned how 500-thousand dollars would be going to the Virginia Department of Education and the state Department of Behavioral Health and Development Services for these kinds of efforts. The first community conversation will take place at 2 p.m. on Thursday at Osbourn High in Manassas.
