A 19-year-old daycare worker in Chesapeake is facing charges for allegedly causing injuries to two infants during diaper changes at a La Petite Academy location. The worker, Carolyn Tinkey, is accused of causing severe wounds to one baby in November 2024, leading to the infant needing surgery and permanent scarring. Tinkey faces charges including cruelty and injuries to children, abuse and neglect of children, and assault and battery. She is currently out on a $2,000 bond and her trial is scheduled for June. 13 News Now reports that Tinkey is not allowed to be alone with any children who are not her own, besides her one-year-old son.
