>>Increase in Sick or Dead Raccoons in Virginia Beach
(Virginia Beach, VA) -- Residents in the Bayville section of Virginia Beach say they're concerned after finding sick or dead raccoons in their yards. Rocio Rivera explains.Preview: Neighbors have been reporting seeing sick or in some cases dead raccoons on their property. Animal control has confirmed they're seeing an uptick in raccoon calls in Bayville, Great Neck and Kempsville. They says tests of dead raccoons last month showed no sign of rabies, but they're not ruling out distemper. The Virginia Department of Health is advising residents in the area to make sure your pets have their vaccines up to date and if you see a dead raccoon or one that's acting strangely to keep your distance and call animal control. Distemper does not affect humans, only dogs. But rabies can be dangerous to both animals and humans. I'm RR.
