A pilot program barring cellphone use in some Fairfax County middle schools will be expanded to include several high schools. School board members say nine high schools have volunteered to take part in the program this fall. Students at seven middle schools will store their phones in lockers or pouches and cannot use them during the school day. The high schools taking part in the pilot program will also have students store their phones during class but will allow their use during lunch and between classes.
