Democrats in the Virginia Senate are asking Governor Glenn Youngkin to work with the IRS to create a quicker and affordable tax submission process. Lawmakers recently sent a letter to Youngkin, saying they want him to partner with the federal government to allow residents with simple tax obligations to use a new program known as Direct File. It lets people file their federal taxes directly with the IRS through the free online system. The feds tested the software in a dozen states, saving users more than five-million dollars. Youngkin says his office is looking into the program.
