The Richmond Times-Dispatch reports that Governor Youngkin sent a letter to President Joe Biden on Friday asking for four-point-four-billion dollars in aid. The letter details hurricane damage in 36 communities in southwest Virginia, as well as current and future economic losses. The governor also asked for money to help the state prepare for and mitigate damage caused by future storms. Virginia Democratic Senator Tim Kaine is among a group of federal lawmakers who are asking the Biden Administration to make a request to Congress for billions of dollars in disaster aid for areas affected by Hurricane Helene and Hurricane Milton.
